Blog stats: 18,000 clicks and counting!

Every once in a while I’ll glance at the number of page views for the blog, and today I see that after three years of blogging I’ve just passed the 18,000 page view count.

It’s always hard to know how my page views stack up against “similar blogs” because bloggers do different things to promote themselves.

I’m probably not doing enough to promote my blog, but I’m content with knowing 38o people are subscribed to my blog today, and I’m getting over 200 visitors to the blog each month plus I have a group of regular readers who come by and comment – which I really love.

If you’re a blogger, how is your blog doing? What do you think you could be doing better? (And what do you think I could be doing better, for that matter!)

As always, thanks for dropping by. πŸ™‚

  1. I’ve got an unhealthy addiction at looking at my stats – I look probably once an hour on average, a habit I need to get out of. If you’re happy with your stats, that’s what counts especially now you’ve cracked Greenland!

    • Haha, thanks for your comment about Greenland … I know you’re a regular reader “aBitofCulture” (aka Richard) … and like you, I used to obsess about my stats everyday.

That wore off after a while because I realized there were patterns emerging in my stats. I get around the same number of visitors and views each month, with little variance … the variance can usually be explained by me posting more frequently (but not too frequently, which doesn’t further enhance the stats.)

If it helps, to get out of your habit start looking for patterns in your stats and then see if you are “on track” for that pattern once a day, once a week, at the half-month mark, and as you approach the end of the month. Then compare how you did the prior month, and if you’ve been blogging long enough compare this month, this year to the same month last year.

Where you see deviations in your patterns is where you should focus. (Hey, I should’ve put all this in the post above. Thank goodness you prompted me with your comment!) πŸ™‚
