My author interview on the PANK blog and other stuff

If you’d like to read my author interview on the PANK blog, it’s up and available on this link:

http://www.pankmagazine.com/pankblog/interviews/ask-the-author-carol-deminski/

The interview was conducted for a story of mine PANK pubbed in Feb 2012 called The Price of Luxury. And the fine folks at PANK sent me my interview questions and dutifully posted the interview on their blog on May 21st, 2012 and I didn’t see it there until, well… now.

That’s embarassing.

But correctable!

I wanted to let my regular readers know the interview is there, and while you’re at it if you haven’t read the story … why not take a moment to read it now?

As a side note, I’m getting more excited because Recyclables is coming out soon on Pure Slush, an Australian small literary mag (how cool is that peoples?!). The fine folks at Pure Slush also publish an add-on which they call the Hue Questionnaire. Since each author fills one out, I’ve done what I could to amuse you, my reader… so now that you’re feeling all intrigued and such, don’t forget to come back in about a week to click on the links to the story and the questionnaire!

Two New Stories at PANK and The Molotov Cocktail

Having my first PANK story published feels fantastic. I’m thrilled to be able to share this story, even though it’s one of the most difficult stories I’ve ever tried to write. I had to dig deeper emotionally in this work, and I’ve got my own resistances to that.

Please note though, the events in the story did not happen to me – it’s not reflective of personal experiences…it’s important to me that people know that because what happens in the story is very difficult.

Roxane Gay, yes I have to say it again, is a phenomenal editor. She was supportive and instrumental in how this story was shaped. She told me she thinks this story has a lot of heart which means the world to me. With pride, here it is:

I think I mentioned How We Found Each Other wasn’t getting much love from many other editors. Josh Goller was the right man at the right time, and for that I’m so pleased to have this quirky little story published in The Molotov Cocktail. Thanks to Josh for giving me the chance to show a darker side in my work:

Story accepted by The Molotov Cocktail!

It is gratifying for me to have found a home for a little story called How We Found Each Other. Molotov Cocktail editor Josh Goller gave me the chance after submitting my work to him for the first time. That’s after having been rejected twenty other times by twenty other editors, mind you.

It’s strange how it goes sometimes, when a writer comes across the right editor with the right eye for the right story. My experience is it can be, and often is, serendipitous, but this is such a happy connection for an unusual story. Thank you Josh.

The story will appear on the Molotov Cocktail site this coming Wednesday, February 15th.

In a strange twist of fate another story, The Price of Luxury, will appear in PANK Magazine on that day too after having been accepted around December of last year. That’s thanks to miraculous PANK editor Roxane Gay, who gave me an amazing opportunity to appear in PANK. Thank you Roxane.

So, Happy Valentines Day to me. I’m grateful to see my babies going out into the world and finding their way.

By now, everybody who reads my blog regularly knows the drill…but for those who just joined the program in the last few days (thank you new readers!) I will post links to the stories on Thursday, and then permanent links will be placed on the Published Stories page.

Huzzah!

Story Accepted by PANK Magazine!

I am thrilled and honored to announce my work has been accepted for publication by PANK Magazine!

This will be the first story of mine to appear in PANK; I’m so excited. PANK Magazine represents the best of cutting edge fiction and I’m a huge fan of Roxane Gay, the amazing editor.

The story, The Price of Luxury, is slated to appear in the February 2012 issue.

As I normally do, a link will be posted to the blog when the story appears, and a permanent link will also appear on the Published Stories page too.
